Can You Feel The Love - Marianne & Charlie's Wedding

From the moment I first spoke to Marianne, I was taken by her sweet nature and kindness. Marianne and Charlie were trying to decide between a wedding in Sydney and a wedding in Bali and time was of the essence as large deposits were due, we were working with limited availability in Bali and Marianne was trying to bring her Dream Bali wedding to reality.  They had already locked in a Sydney venue and Marianne fell in love with the Ungasan and worked tirelessly to convince Charlie and the family it was the right move and also stick to budget which as all brides know is really hard to do.

3^rd June 2019 was chosen only a short 6 months prior to the date and with a little compromise on the villa her dream wedding was booked In Bali.

  We were absolutely thrilled to finally feature this wedding on the 1^st year anniversary.  We had the pleasure of working on the overall concept/styling with Diane Khoury one of Marianne's very good friends and bringing this concept to life trying to create something one of a kind and different to what Bali has seen.    We were also lucky enough to meet the incredible Emilio B Photography and work alongside him on the day.  The images he created for this incredible wedding are breathtaking.  

THE DRESS 

I knew Marianne was going to look incredible and could not wait to see her amazing Gown from the Leah Da Gloria Couture 2020 Collection.   Marianne wore the Collins Gown which was 8 months in the making The intricate details of this couture gown are second to none. beautifully handcrafted in the Leah Da Gloria Couture studio in Sydney it really was both classically elegant yet modern, combining a mixture of different sized pearls and beading, tulle, lace and silk with a strapless sweetheart neckline, it fit Marianne like a glove which is the Leah Da Gloria signature fit; flaring out into the amazing long dramatic  almost peacock patter like train. Its just incredible in the photos .

STYLING THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION 

Marianne was very certain in regard to her styling; she just loved baby’s breath and wanted an accent of white floral blooms and the softening look of romantic magical billowing chiffon.  Having weddings in Bali, they are always outdoors so anything that needs to be hung requires a structure. They can be individual over each table or a larger truss over the entire reception area.  We see so many wonderful pictures on social media however they always leave out the structures to make it look like they are hanging from the sky.  Unlike a ballroom where you can hang a truss from the ceiling, we need to bring everything in to create an intimate room type setting.  There are quite a few options for this, however many things come into play, design, weight of the florals and lighting as well as restricted set up times due to having one of the most popular Venues in Bali.  We generally must be in and out in under 16 hours or start set up around 2 am on the day of the wedding making it a 24 hour turn around.

    

The main feature flower for this incredible wedding was baby breath - it can be quite challenging to use in Bali as the quantity required to execute the full look is mammoth.   Marianne wanted billowing chiffon and baby’s breath to ensure the styling was romantic and magical.  Over the designing stages with Diane we floated a few different concepts to Marianne before finally deciding on the individual overhead structures rather than a full roof structure.  

  

The ceremony took place at the famous Villa Tamarama, at the Ungasan Cliff top resort and spa. This is one of our favourite villas in Bali and would satisfy the fussiest of bride’s requirements.   Just imagine the guest arrival walking through the Colonial Styled House into the living room to the most divine ocean view,  ( we hear it time and time again as the guests walk in they are gob smacked with the incredible view ) down the stairs and past the pool and tropical greenery to the longest aisle for the most spectacular bridal entrance the perfect way of showcasing Marianne’s incredible Leah da Gloria dress with the stunning train floating behind her. 

  

 The Reception was held at the Selatan Lawn.  Kylie and Narelle had a fabulous time working on the lay out with Diane Khoury for Marianne and Charlie.  There were 115 guests and Diane was very eager to go with the main guest tables to be shaped in an X – something that the couple were a little nervous about.  However after some re assurance it would look incredible and the guests wouldn’t be uncomfortable Marianne and Charlie approved and on the night the lay out our amazing in house Stylist Kylie set up using every inch of the Selatan lawn was truly spectacular and one of a kind.

The lawn area is a little uneven and has a pathway to one side, so design wise we used the larger area for the tables and the left area for the chill out zone and dance floor where we suspended the most gorgeous baby’s breath chandelier.

 

The end result for the set up and space used was nothing short of spectacular.  It really did look magical and we have never seen so many guests enter a reception ( to the beat of  the xtreme team’s drums ) holding up their phones and filming. 

TABLEWARES & FURNITURE 

The table scapes these days are becoming more elaborate with show plates, different cutlery, napery and glassware.  The wonder Semeja provided the intricate Serenity Dinnerware set with a Charger, main plate, starter and glorious little bread and butter side plates.   Along with crystal water and wine glasses and we paired it all with rose gold cutlery 

The table name settings were hand torn parchment paper with gold writing and the Drinks Menu and Seating plan were matched

.

We absolutely love Bali Event hire and they are our go -to for furniture.   We used their white bentwood chairs for the ceremony to create a crisp clean and modern look and their hand-Crafted Louise white-wash tables and chairs for the reception. 

The cocktail pieces mixed between their and white Almafi North tall tables with clear ghost stools and round white bistro tables with Mexi Queen chairs.  For the Reception we were able to showcase for the first time their brand new Seminyak Bar. We just love being the first to showcase new products at our weddings.

THE WEDDING CAKE 

Marianne decided on a very classic cake, 4 tiers with the traditional white fondant icing. Unbeknown to Marianne, Kylie styled the cake to have the same pattern on Marianne’s dress embossed onto the largest middle tier.    It was such a wonderful surprise and looked incredible when they cut the cake under the baby’s breath floral feature with hanging crystals suspended from the coconut palms above the dance floor.

The feeling at this wedding we pure electricity from the minute the guests arrived into the reception space until the time we had to encourage them all onto buses back the renaissance for the after party.  Taking a large group of guests to bali that are used to very elaborate Sydney weddings we knew there was a fair bit of pressure for Marianne and Charlie to ensure the created a very special day. It made our night  listening to the guests as the head towards the end of the reception and the echoing of that was the best wedding ever so we know it was a raging success.  

We checked on the afterparty to ensure everyone had what they needed, had one or perhaps two quick cocktails and said our goodbyes.  We just couldn’t wait to hear from them the next morning and its certainly one of our highlights receiving the what’s app from the couple thanking us and saying the wedding was incredible which was exactly what we received the next morning.  

Marianne and Charlie were the sweetest couple and so kind, it was certainly our pleasure to bring this incredible dream to life to them and a wedding we will remember for years to come.
